Pet Tip # 64 - Equine

Polyunsaturated or blended cooking oils are subject to oxidation or rancidity during storage and use. Many horses will reduce their intake if the oil tastes stale or has bittered through rancidity. It is essential that you seal the container well after use, and it is stored in a cool place. Avoid shaking the bottle prior to measuring the required dose. Shaking mixes and traps air bubbles in the oil and increases the likelihood of oxidation and rancidity.
