We are an independently owned Newcastle based company specialising in all things Pet and we hope you will enjoy your experience either on our website or in our store.
We try to be different and we do our best to give you our customer 'good old fashioned service', something that is slowly disappearing as more and more 'big box' national chain stores take over the industry.
Why are we different you might ask ...... well first and foremost we have a passion for pets and most of our staff have many pets in their care and much experience to share with you if you need help and support with your pet or pet care. If you live close enough to visit one of our stores you will see that we have a strong care commitment to both our in store pets and our live 'in store' animals. We keep all of our pets in clean enriched environments and in healthy living conditons.
The Pet Shop Boyz staff always strive to provide 'expert' knowledgeable and friendly service and well informed pet advice. We also do our best to look for great value products that are different and will appeal to you and your pets and we aim to preseet you with good value products.
Most importantly however our staff are not just 'check-out-chicks' if you will pardon the pun. All of our staff have an individual passion and a specialty that comes with many years experience that they are more than willing to share with you in our store at any time you choose to visit. Danny Boskovski our General Manager is an anchor presenter on the Newcastle based Pet Chat Radio Show presenting a new and interesting pet based chat show every wednesday at midday on 2NURFM 103.7FM. Danny has vast experience in the pet trade and is particularly interested in Dogs and Birds although his knowledge on reptiles is not bad. Danny co-owns and has bred the No 1 Weimaraner in Australia in 2010. His dogs' name is Legend - Australian Grand Champion Somerlaren Ima Legend 2010 No 1 Weimaraner in all of Australia (DOL competition) and Legend is often at the Mayfield West store to welcome customers on weekends. Legend is well behaved and stays in the counter area and many customers and children love to greet him on their way into the store.
Jim Delaney our Accounts Manager is a well known poultry expert/consultant and also breeds parrots, ducks and budgies. Jim is a regular guest presenter on the Pet Chat Radio show for all things 'poultry' in nature. Jim has amazing knowledge on dogs and feeding schedules and he is able to offer advise based on over 35 years experience in breeding dogs and poultry.
We have great staff and each one of them have their own areas of expertise and its fun getting to know them and asking them to share their passion with you.
Kellie has mice and birds and is training to be a Vet Nurse.
Trent has a dog and is also very knowledgeable about pet products.
Lyle is a rat breeder and trust me the rats he breeds make the BEST ever pets they have the most amazing temperaments.
Colleen is a bird breeder and has vast experience working in the pet industry, she has a dynamic knowledge base and is willing to talk and discuss all things PET!
Simon is our 'Reptile guru' and is available to help with specialist knowledge in this area.
Zac has worked with us for over 5 years and he is also definately a poultry person.
I can't forget our amazing Groomers "Dirty Dogz" .... Jackie and Greg are just the nicest and best groomers we have ever had. They will absolutely pamper your pooch. Please telephone and make a booking and try them out!
Brainna is our web savy guru and has great general pet knowledge and keeps Alpacas, sheep, fish and some reptiles.
Sue is a vet nurse and has vast pet care knowledge coming from a veterinary background.
Please help to support us as we also support many good and worthwhile organistaions that support pets in our region particularly Hunter Animal Rescue, Dog Resue Newcastle and numerous show dog clubs and local schools.
We sell products for Dogs, Cats, Fish, Reptiles, Small Animals, Poultry and Livestock. We specialise in Show Dog Products and carry local brands that can’t be found in national chain stores. We do our best to support local businesses and we ask you to do the same.
